3 Things Wrong With Affiliate Marketing

AFFILIATE MARKETING IS GREAT...

Yes, affiliate marketing is a great business model. 

If you are new to the make money online world, you should give it a try. 

Let me share some of the great things about affiliate marketing

• LOW BARRIER OF ENTRY (easy to get started, can even start for FREE)
• ONE OF THE SIMPLEST BUSINESS MODELS OUT THERE (it's not complicated to understand)
• THERE ARE TONS OF SUCCESS STORIES (so many have made money from affiliate marketing)

BUT......

While affiliate marketing is great..it's not perfect. 

Don't let the gurus fool you. 

It is not as simple as clicking a button. 

And there are some not so great aspects about affiliate marketing. 

So, I'm going to share 3 things about affiliate from my personal experience that I don't like. 

If you keep reading below, I will share with you 3 things wrong with affiliate marketing. 

But I also will share somethings to "cures" to help you out. 

3 THINGS THAT ARE WRONG WITH AFFILIATE MARKETING

1) INFORMATION OVERLOAD 

There is so much noise and information about affiliate marketing out there. 

And it can really get to you. 

Like it got to me...SMH

​You will hear things like 

• work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
• you have to be on social media going hard promoting
• hustle hard all day every day
• go big or go home
• and a lot more...

While there is some amount of time and effort you have to put in..

You shouldn't wear yourself thin to get online success. 

People are going to woo you with their payment proofs to draw you in. 

Big names are going to ask you to buy their course and solve your life's issues. 

But, I want to tell you...DON'T FALL FOR THE HYPE!

So, what is the cure...

THE CURE

• Find what strategy works for YOU
• Connect with a person, coach, or community to help you
• DON'T focus on making money, focus on gaining the skills to succeed. 
• Don't be afraid to start small.

2) SKILLS OR NO SKILLS

I know the common logic is that you don't need skills to start affiliate marketing. 

To some extent, that is true. 

Affiliate marketing is newbie friendly. 

But you will need to gain some skill in order to make affiliate marketing work for you. 

You will have to learn...

• how to create content that attracts the people you need 
• how to brand yourself and your business
• how to operate software/hardware to grow your business
• the ins and outs of an online business
• and more..

3) IT IS A BUSINESS...(WHICH TAKES TIME)

Most of us thinking that the internet is the equivalent of hitting the lottery. 

Which in the case of affiliate marketing looks like...

• getting a product or offer or joining an affiliate network
• getting your affiliate link
• promoting it any and everywhere
• watching the commissions and riches roll in a day or two later....

My friend, I wish it were that easy. 

I wish I could lie to you and say it is the simple 

But I have to tell you the truth...IT IS NOT!

The truth is...

• it will take you a while to build your list
• it will take some time to build traction on YouTube
• it will take time for you to build your brand
• it could take days, weeks, or months before you see any commissions
• it could take several months before you gain any traction or consistent results

THE CURE 

Let me offer you some advice that I had to learn the hard way. 

• Give yourself 6 -12 months or at least 90 days and see how it feels
• Focus on building your email list 
• Start growing your audience through content marketing
• Create a Youtube channel, blog, or some kind of hub for your content
• Focus on helping others instead of making money
• Work on your mindset and develop your skills each day
• Learn from other people whose VALUES you align with 
• Seek out direct and indirect coaching

CONCLUSION

So, what have we learned about affiliate marketing. 

Affiliate marketing is a great business model. 

But there are 3 things wrong with affiliate marketing (in my experience/opinion)

• There is a lot of noise about affiliate marketing
• It's hard to succeed without developing the skills needed
• It can be time consuming to grow an affiliate marketing business

While I will suggest affiliate marketing (as I do it myself) to anyone...

There are other options out there to make money online. 

The key is to explore and find something that interests and connects with you.
